Goals In Action

I have talked to you about pursuing your passion and realizing your dreams, but how do you get there, how do you realize your dreams?

You need to set goals, clear and decisive goals in every area of your life. Would you go on a trip without a roadmap? Goals are the roadmap to your success.

If I asked you what 5x7 is most of you could tell me what the answer is, but is I asked you what 125x18 is you would have to write it down and figure it out.

What is holding you back from setting goals and achieving them? The #1 reason is FEAR There are things you want, but you hesitate to try because you fear failure more than you expect success.

Negatives like "Doubtful, Hesitant and Pessimistic" start to take their toll on your performance -- quickly moving you away from the success you want.

A lack of commitment suggests you are someone who tends to fear failure and avoids the pain of doing things wrong. A lack of confidence, and a fear of failure, prevents you from proceeding -- more times than you'd like.

You find it hard to take action when there's no guarantee of success. It's even worse when you've never done something before. This lack of confidence holds you back from small things like initiating conversations with strangers to large decisions like career changes. And day-by-day, you simply give up on things you want -- because you have no belief in your ability to achieve them.

FOCUS & DIRECTION

When you set specific GOALS, you target future accomplishments with precision and clarity. The first step in getting "everything" you want is to specify exactly what "everything" is.

Goals are the milestones by which reality finds its way to a dream. Whenever you can specifically communicate what you want, you're more than halfway to getting it. By identifying your values, vision and mission, you've determined what's most important to you.

Now, when you picture how your ideal world would look and what it will take to make it real, you can identify specific, concrete milestones along the road to your dreams.

The more clearly and precisely you describe these targets, the easier it is to focus on the means for their attainment. These specific milestones then become your most vivid, powerful and inspiring goals because they're in direct alignment with what you value most.

Remember, the difference between a dream and a goal is a date.

Goals are "Absolute Will-Be's" and "By When's", when you become 100% personally responsible for making them come true. There's nothing more critical to your long-term productivity than setting specific goals and then holding yourself accountable for each and every one of them.

Excuses: When I have more time then I will,  When the weather changes then I will, When Christmas is over then I will. When the kids go back to school then I will. When my mate changes then I will. I will exercise next week. i will start my diet after the holidays.

Success is the direct result of taking the right actions, the right way, at the right time for the right reasons. Understand this and you can take on anything with confidence. Just discover what the right actions are and do them. Your success isn't limited by past mistakes -- but by your willingness to take the right actions right now! If you have no confidence in your ability, you won't even try. But, if you're committed to do whatever it takes until you get it right -- you will eagerly proceed with the confidence to succeed.

"There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it." ~ Napoleon Hill

Bryan Tracy

Look at your goals again. What is your FEAR to REWARD ratio? You have two choices: Increase the REWARDS within your goals; or, Reduce your FEAR.

Remember, a loss of WILL Power occurs when you permit FEAR to take over your life.

Yes, FEAR is a prime reason people NEVER achieve their goals. It's sad, because all you need to do is ACT through the fear... and do it anyway.

"I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot... and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that's precisely why I succeed."
Michael Jordon

"For an athlete to function properly, he must be intent.

There has to be a definite purpose and goal if you are to

progress. If you are not intent about what you are doing,

you aren't able to resist the temptation to do something else

that might be more fun at the moment."

John Wooden
